Sean is an international performer, director and teacher who specializes in contemporary clown, circus and ensemble based theatre.
He trained as an actor at Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama and as a circus performer at the National Centre of Circus Arts. However most of his training has been developed by trial and error and learning from some brilliant practitioners.
He has had an incredibly diverse career spanning all forms of performance. As an actor touring the UK extensively in rep, the West End and at the Royal National Theatre Studios. He has had a hugely successful circus career being a long time staple clown for Cirque Du Soleil (Varekai, Kooza, Quidam) creating work and performing for Franco Dragone’s Le Reve in Las Vegas and throwing himself around at great heights at the Millenium Dome.
Sean was a co-founder of the the Generating Company and directed their first three shows. He now works as a freelance director for circus, cabaret and theatre. Alongside all this work he is a passionate teacher focusing on clown, physical performance and material creation.
Sean has just completed creating Filibuster for Tom Gaskin a solo Juggling clown show which will be touring next year. His show “Bohemia”, a coproduction between Underbelly festival and Black Cat Cabaret, has just completed a successful run on the South Bank London.
He has developed material for a large scale arena show which will opened in Macau in January 2019 .In 2019 Sean performed for Cirque Du Soleil’s production of Kooza in Korea and New Zealand . He devised and performed “The Bridge” an outdoor site specific show developed for Coventry city of culture.He directed a tap show called “Off the beaten track” which will tour in 2020.Sean is currently developing a show called A Simple Story to premier Summer 2020 alongside “Hattie” an aerial theatre show to tour Autumn 2020. To finish the year off he has just returned from filming a major Ad campaign of which he was Choreographer.Watch this space for the development of new shows for the coming year.
And reading above there is a 2020 adaption! What happened this year.Well it has been a good year for dreaming.Just before lockdown we finished “off the beaten track” our lovely tap show. It is currently sat in the stalls waiting to go out next year. I am waiting on flights to redirect “Bohemia” in Monaco for the new Year. The development for Hattie has sped up and the first full round of development can be seen In worthing theatres April next year. For the London Mime festival and Vamos Theatre I have co written and am performing in “Love Through Double Glazing” .This is a socially distanced show for care homes and people living with dementia performing through their windows. It has just finished its pilot run to great success and I look forward to taking it out again next year. Speaking of which, Club silly have awarded me a grant to develop a two person clown/theatre show based on Das boot.I will write something in the show section soon.Plenty more planned for next year but I thought you could have a taster here.
